# Weekly Prompt - 2025-02-15
> [!important] Author's Notes
> I got like, *crazy-super-ill* these past few days. Wasn't fun. But at least I sorted out most of my writing issues. The main game will have more conflict and drama, but this is a freebie. A cute little snippet of my pet hackergal.

Velvet Grader awoke to a humid summer morning. Sunlight poured through the open window, making the tatami floor practically luminescent. She peeled off her blanket, stretched her toned, taut muscles, and dressed herself in a sakura kimono.
A small commotion drew her attention out the window. It seemed today was market day, as dozens of stalls lined the village's main street. A pleasant old couple stood right across from the inn, passing free sweets to cheering children. Velvet took a whiff, and let her mind freely wander.
This was paradise. A gentle breeze on a cloudless day. Witnessing children wave at her, Velvet felt a happiness she couldn't quite place. Penetrating. Frightening. As if it'd shift the very earth beneath her soul. Her chest tightened, teeth grit, before she stepped back and hugged herself.
That's right. This wasn't real. Just a game... nothing more.
As she stepped out the inn onto the street, a palette of holographic buttons and graphs appeared alongside her. Kindly village folk bade her good morning, as she checked her vitals in realspace. Getting hungry, needed a shower. She dismissed it and carried on.
Ambling through the street market, magical bow slung on her back, Velvet easily smiled at farmers and craftsmen hawking their goods. *New farming tools, fresh squash, fine sake just for you!* The air was charged with earnest merriment. She couldn't help but play a handful of the games, even if it meant spending a few *jie*.

Alas, luck had fled her. The goldfish swam free, and her tosses missed their mark. But at least she earned a kokeshi as consolation. She admired its smooth texture and chibi smile as she headed for the logoff node. With a thought, she morphed it to resemble someone special.
